Scripture: Judges 18:30-31 "30 Then they set up the carved image, and they appointed Jonathan son of Gershom, son of Moses, as their priest. This family continued as priests for the tribe of Dan until the Exile. 31 So Micah's carved image was worshiped by the tribe of Dan as long as the Tabernacle of God remained at Shiloh." Observations: Before Israel had a king, they were self-ruled by various leaders. This made for a bad combination of government due to the fact that there was a severe lack of spiritual leadership for God's people. As a result, many forgot God and began worshiping idols. In fact, the entire tribe of Dan was so out of touch with God's commands that it took them a couple hundred years after they entered the promised land to even attempt driving out the inhabitants and begin settling down. But the Bible points out that even after they did settle, they set up an idol and worshiped it. To make things worse, they selected Moses' grandson Jonathan...
