Never Give Up!

Scripture: Luke 11:9-10
9 “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Observations:
Jesus taught about prayer making it seem so simple saying things like "ask and you'll receive". Could it really be that easy? Surely there's a catch? But He makes it pretty plain in this basic teaching on prayer that persistence is the key. His instructions on getting your prayers answered are "keep on...asking...seeking...knocking". In short, don't stop until you receive an answer. He even makes prayer work for "everyone who asks", given that the first instructions have already been followed (vs. 2-4).

Application:
For some reason we tend to make prayer a complicated process reserved for the spiritually elite. But if that were the case Jesus would never have taught His disciples, who all could have been the poster child for spirituality for dummies. But Jesus delights in showing ordinary "unspiritual" people how to relate to God in a way that they can understand and actually benefit from. Prayer should neither intimidate us nor discourage us. We have all the instruction we need, the only thing left for us to do is pray and continue praying for the answer til happens. Jesus assures us that anyone, even you, can and should expect an answer. Just keep going!!!

Prayer:
Father, thank You for showing us how to pray and for hearing us when we do. Help us to know your will and to seek Your Kingdom first as we strive to persevere in prayer until we receive the answer. Amen.
